9th Dynare Conference Held at SOE

On Oct. 29, the opening ceremony of the 9th Dynare conference jointly organized by the School of Economics, Institute for Advanced Research, Key Laboratory of Mathematical Economics, and Collaborative Innovation Center for Economics and China's Transition and Development at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Bank of France, DSGEnet and the Dynare project at CEPREMAP was held at Howard Johnson Caida Plaza. It was the first time that this conference was held in Asia and China.

President Liming Fan of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics attended the ceremony and delivered an opening speech. She extended cordial welcome to the participants from all over the world, and expected the conference to be a high-end platform for extensive, in-depth and rewarding academic exchange and communication. President Fan shared with the participants the recent development of SUFE, SOE and the Institute for Advanced Research. She also mentioned that "one of the recent research focuses of the Institute for Advanced Research is to establish a suite of macroeconomic analysis and forecast models for the Chinese economy conducted by the China Center for Macroeconomic Research, with which the theme of this conference today is a perfect fit…To this end, the center welcomes suggestions and collaborative initiatives from all of you…".

SOE Executive Associate Dean Guan Gong chairs the opening ceremony that featured the keynote speech by Prof. Christopher Sims, the 2011 Nobel Laureate and Professor of Economics at Princeton University. He shared with the audience his insightful views on the topic "Modeling the Interaction of Financial Stress Measures with Macro Variables" and answered their questions with clear and detailed explanations.

This two-day conference consists of two plenary sessions, 17 parallel sessions, and about 40 presentations by presenters from Federal Reserve Board, Bank of Japan, Deutsche Bundesbank, National Bank of Belgium, UC San Diego, University of Manchester, etc. These economists exchanged their latest research findings at the conference and also provided policy advice for the Chinese economy.
