Workshop on "Rapid Aging and Chinese Pension Reform: Challenge and Opportunity" Held at the IAR

On June 3, the workshop on "Rapid Aging and Chinese Pension Reform: Challenge and Opportunity", which was co-hosted by the Institute for Advanced Research and the Key Laboratory of Mathematical Economics (SUFE), Ministry of Education and Environmental Science was held at Room 807 of the School of Economics Building. Dean of the SOE and the IAR, Professor Guoqiang Tian, Party Secretary of the SOE Fang Wang, Executive Vice Dean of the IAR Chunrong Ai and the Vice Dean oof the IAR Liguo Lin attended the workshop. Assistant to the Dean of the IAR Hui He organized and hosted the workshop.

The scholars and experts from home and abroad participating the workshop discussed the issues on the global population consumption, savings and money flows, the development of universal health care system, the general labor supply and social insurance actuarial balance etc., and shared the international advanced experience and frontier academic research results on dealing with the problems of aging population and pension system reform. Besides, the experts deeply interpreted the challenge and opportunity of the rapid aging and Chinese pension reform from an professional perspective, exploring how to make different generations of China share the economic growth and welfare with scientific and standardized economic methods and the future direction of China's reform of the basic pension system. The workshop will be of great reference significance in further promoting the theory innovation and system reform of social security in China.
